From 18-25 October 2019, 13 members of the Phytophthora Research Centre (PRC) attended the 9th Meeting of the IUFRO Working Party 7.02.09: Phytophthora in Forests and Natural Ecosystems, held in La Maddalena, Sardinia, Italy. Thomas Jung gave two keynote presentations on “The importance of the nursery pathway for the spread of Phytophthora species to natural ecosystems in Europe” and “Insights into the biogeography and global diversity of Phytophthora“. Ivan Milenkovic, Tamara Corcobado Sanchez, Milica Raco and Leticia Botella gave oral presentations on the ” Diversity of Phytophthora species in natural ecosystems in Serbia, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Montenegro (Western Balkans)”, the “Efficacy of long-term phosphite applications to control Phytophthora dieback of mature Fagus sylvatica, Quercus robur and Quercus petraea trees under natural conditions”, “Next-generation sequencing of small RNAs in detecting viruses of Phytophthora species” and the “Detection and description of viruses in Halophytophthora spp. from Portugal”. In addition, Aneta Bacova, Tomas Majek and Henrieta Datkova gave short oral presentations of their posters. In total, members of PRC were authors or coauthors of 10 oral presentations and 4 posters.
